Arno Maatman is Director of the International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA).
Before joining ICRA, he was program leader of the Input Accessibility (now AgriBusiness Development) program of IFDC. He joined IFDC in Lomé, Togo, in 1998 and in 2006 he moved to Bamako, Mali, where he was appointed Resident Representative of IFDC-Mali and Chief of Party (COP) for a regional project on agribusiness cluster formation and value chain development, "From Thousands to Millions: accelerating sustainable agricultural intensification and economic growth in West Africa" (1000s+). The 1000s+ project is pioneering the scaling-up of the CASE approach in 7 West African countries and provides support to a large number of grassroots’ level innovation processes, involving farmers, traders, agro-food processors, financial and business support services and policy-makers.
