Dr Bas Hofs (KWR Watercycle Research Institute, Netherlands) explains how nanotechnology could contribute to water purification. Poor people in developing countries may, in the long term, benefit through access to clean drinking water. In this way, nanotechnology can contribute to the United Nations’ Millennium Goals.
