Abdourahmane Idrissa is a Nigerien political scientist with an interest in the political economy of West Africa, African democratization, political Islam and political theory. He is currently working on a comparative study of Islamic radicalization in the countries of the West African Sahel (Nigeria, Niger, Burkina, Mali and Senegal) and is affiliated with the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Idrissa also runs a Niger-based think tank, ‘Economie Politique et Gouvernance Autonome’. Recent publications include the Historical Dictionary of Niger and L’Afrique pour les nuls (‘Africa for Dummies’), which is part of the popular ‘For dummies’ series.
