Julia Matser was an editorial volunteer at The Broker. She worked for the Sahel Watch and Migration Trail living analyses. Julia completed part of her Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science in Northern Ireland and has an MA degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from Utrecht University. Her fieldwork for this degree was done in Cartagena, Colombia on the interference of a local religious leader in societal debates on the peace agreement. Her interests are conflict dynamics, the extreme right in Europe, migration, civil disobedience and shifting power structures on the global, national and local level. Besides her work at The Broker she teaches a weekly Dutch language class to women who have moved to the Netherlands in the last 10 years and is on the advisory board of DWARS, the young greens in The Netherlands.
