Makau Mutua is dean and SUNY distinguished professor at Buffalo Law School, The State University of New York. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School. He was co-chair of the 2000 Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law. Professor Mutua is the author of many scholarly articles and several books including Kenya's Quest for Democracy: Taming Leviathan (2008), Human Rights NGOs in East Africa: Political and Normative Tensions (2008) and Human Rights: A Political and Cultural Critique (2002).
