Chris Richter is an Associate Migration Officer and New York focal point for migration and the post-2015 UN Development Agenda with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Prior to joining IOM, Mr. Richter was an Assistant Director in the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, where he worked on a number of migration related issues including migration and development, refugee and humanitarian affairs and border protection. Mr. Richter has held various other positions in the Australian Government, including as a policy officer in the Attorney-General’s Department – working on counter-terrorism and counter-violent extremism issues – and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) – on human rights. He holds Bachelor degrees in international law and international relations, and a Master’s degree in international development.
