Melvin van der Veen is a social scientist who specializes in the governance of natural resources in Latin America. He holds a research-based MSc in International Development Studies from University of Amsterdam. After graduating, Melvin completed a one-year traineeship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands, as part of the Advanced Master in International Development at the Radboud University. Melvin now works as an independent researcher.
