What role can civil society and (international) NGOs play in the rapidly changing global context? So far, the online debate has mainly focused on the WRR’s analysis of NGOs and their focus on ‘palliative’ measures. Some contributors suggest that NGOs should focus more on strengthening networks and global social movements And, finally, there were some concrete suggestions about developing a new institutional architecture that incorporates global public goods and policy coherence for development in its agenda. There are more than enough ingredients here for a more in-depth examination of the discussion on the role of NGOs.
