The Broker, the Netherlands-based knowledge brokering organization for social impact and international development, is looking for Office & Executive support / HR officer to join our team for 4 to 5 days a week. 

The challenge

As our Office & Executive support / HR officer, you are the central point of contact for your colleagues and the Management Team. You know what’s going on in the organization and ensure that everything runs smoothly. You proactively manage and implement strategies and policies that enable The Broker to have optimal Office and HR management practices. You will fit perfectly into our team if you enjoy an open and relaxed atmosphere and like to have a fun get-together with colleagues from time to time. 

Your main tasks will be as follows:

Office support

  • You provide changes and updates for the monthly payroll administration to ensure seamless salary payments every month;
  • You support the financial officer with processing incoming and outgoing invoices;
  • You oversee the time registration, leave and absenteeism administration;
  • You ensure that all our processes related to hiring, during employment, and when employees leave run smoothly from an administrative perspective;
  • Organizing company outings, internal training sessions, and preparing internal communications.

Executive support

  • You keep contact with our supervisory board, organize board meetings and write minutes;
  • You work as an active connector between the Management Team and the rest of the team; 
  • You support the CEO and DFO in their daily tasks.

HR officer

  • You set up and maintain digital personnel files to ensure they remain up-to-date and complete;
  • You actively participate and monitor the progress within the Recruitment & Selection process;
  • You will support the Management Team in setting proper goals for coaching, development, and performance expectations of the staff; 
  • You help shape working conditions that contribute best to the aims and stability of the organization;
  • You will support our ambition to grow further, and you determine the proper channels for talent acquisition, as well as manage efficiently and professionally all employee-related matters;

Who you are

You are an energetic and proactive person, with excellent communication skills. You are the go-to colleague for all Knowledge Brokers, and you know how to handle office and HR matters quickly and effectively. You identify as a ‘people person’ and you have administrative swiftness at heart. You are a sharp recorder, whether minutes, reports or salary mutations. You know that a well-run office is an unmissable part of a great team. And, of course, you know how to get the best out of people.

Furthermore, you have/are:

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in office management and/or HR, preferably within a global and dynamic environment; non-profit experience and experience with finance management is a plus;
  • A proactive, service-oriented, stress-resistant practical and enthusiastic host to guests and colleagues;
  • Up-to-date substantive knowledge in the field of HRM laws and regulations, and you are ambitious and eager to further develop yourself within the HR domain;
  • A team player, passionate about international sustainable inclusive development;
  • An organizational talent who likes to work in an international environment;
  • An eye for organizing, facilitating, and servicing and a sense of responsibility;
  • An expert in the MS Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and quickly adapts to new systems;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

What we offer

The Broker offers you a challenging position in a dynamic and international working environment with the flexibility to develop within a young and enthusiastic team. Our offices are located in TSH Collab Amsterdam West, friendly and focused coworking spaces, home to creatives and start-ups and easily accessible by public transport.

You will be employed for an initial period of 1 year for the position of Office/HR manager, with the possibility of getting a permanent position. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. This vacancy is at least 0.8 fte (32 hours a week); this will depend on workload and availability – to be determined prior to the commencement of the contract. Your salary will be €2.798 – €3.909 based on full-time employment, 40 hrs/week – based on our salary house (which follows the “CAO” Social Work) depending on experience and range of duties. Additionally, you will receive 25 paid holidays (based on full-time employment), a 13th month and a travel allowance based on public transport. Upon satisfactory completion of the first year, we are happy to extend your contract.
