Andrew Lebovich
Andrew Lebovich is a PhD student in African History at Columbia University. Prior to that he worked as a consultant for the Open Society Initiative for West Africa, based in Dakar, Senegal, and as a researcher and analyst based in Washington, D.C. His work focuses on issues of religion, politics, and security in North and West Africa, and his work has been published in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, West Point's Combatting Terrorism Center Sentinel, Think Africa Press, African Arguments, and more.
This international dimension to the conflict in northern Mali is complex, fluid and often unclear, but remains essential to understanding the state of play in the contemporary Sahara-Sahel region.
