Bastiaan Engelhard
Bastiaan Engelhard is First Secretary at the Dutch Embassy in Costa Rica and coordinator of the Program for Central America, which aims to improve the security situation, access to justice and the situation of human rights defenders in the region. Between 2010 and 2012 he worked at the Dutch Embassy in Brazil as Secretary for Economic Affairs. Before that he was Secretary for Political, Press and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy in Mozambique (2006-2010), where he worked with justice and human rights issues. Between 2004 and 2006 he worked on Water and Environment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bastiaan Engelhard has an MSc in International Economics and Economic Geography from the University of Utrecht (2001) and worked in the private sector for three years.
