Lisa Denney is a Research Officer in the Politics and Governance Programme at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). She has a PhD in International Politics, completed at Aberystwyth University. Her interests focus on the relationship between security and development, post-conflict peacebuilding and informal governance practices, and she has work experience on issues of disarmament, citizen security and youth education/reintegration in West Africa and East Timor. Her research has focused on the inability of donors to engage with non-state governance actors in their efforts to transform the political landscape of fragile states, and therefore the need to better account for local governance practices.
The complex relationship between insecurity issues and development can be clarified by including ‘development disruptor’ goals in the post-2015 framework.
