Nina Staal is Programme Coordinator at the International Organization for Migration. Based in the organization’s Country Office in the Netherlands, she leads the team that works on migration and development, as well as labour mobility, family reunification, resettlement, and migrant inclusion. This includes the responsibility for IOM’s local diaspora programming, in which diaspora share expertise with their countries of origin. Before assuming her current position, she has taken on different projects with IOM the Netherlands, such as diplomatic liaison with IOM’s voluntary return programme, and as project coordinator for several integration projects. Prior to joining IOM in 2012, Nina worked for VluchtelingenWerk Nederland and spent time in Eritrea as a trainee with the Netherlands Embassy. Nina holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen (RUG), where she specialized in conflict studies and forced migration.
