Zoë Gorman

Zoë Gorman is a Research Assistant with the Sahel and West Africa Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The programme aims to contribute to sustainable peace in the region and to support civil society involvement in the design and implementation of security policies. Zoë received degrees in political science and physics from Yale University. She previously served as Senior Writer for the Center for Media and Peace Initiatives in New York, where she covered global security issues and the United Nations. She has worked extensively on countering violent extremism with the Quilliam Foundation in London and at the UN General Assembly, conducted monitoring and evaluations studies of security and development in Africa and managed a successful political campaign. Her research aspirations include developing new methods for quantitative analysis of peace and security issues for policymaking. In her spare time, she serves as resident composer of chamber music for the London-based Public Sphere.

The international community and G5 states should evaluate their objectives and commitment to the force to meet the needs of local populations.
