Launch of the umbrella website for the Dutch knowledge platforms on global development

News27 Jan 2014

The overview website provides information on the five Dutch knowledge platforms on global development. On the website you will find news on the individual platforms, frequently asked questions, and news about research initiatives.

The five knowledge platforms have been set up to collect, produce and share knowledge and information between stakeholders in a specific field. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ initiated the creation of a platform for each of the four spearheads of Dutch international cooperation:

The five platforms map existing knowledge more effectively and jointly compile a coherent knowledge and research agenda. The resulting knowledge is being put into use in development policies and practice.

Participants in the platforms are policy-makers, academics and representatives of the private sector and civil society organizations from different countries. They contribute not only scientific and academic knowledge, but also the often extensive practical knowledge and experience of NGOs and the innovative ideas of businesses.

Each platform has its own working style so it can deliver added value to its specific field. The intention is that the platforms evolve to become self-sufficient networks with their own dynamics.

The knowledge platforms are currently working on creating their own websites, from which an RSS feed will be implemented on the umbrella website. At the moment, the website of the Security and Rule of Law Knowledge Platform is functioning. The other platforms expect their website to be functioning within the coming months.

For questions on the individual platforms, please contact the knowledge platforms via the About this platform pages.

The website has been created by The Broker, an independent forum and online magazine on globalization and development.
