Marwa Azelmat
Marwa’s work lies at the intersection of technology and social impact. Over the past decade, she has advised governments, including the French government on online gender-based violence, corporations like META as a privacy expert for the MENA region, and philanthropic organizations such as Fondation Botnar and the Web Foundation on crafting digital strategies that prioritize equity and inclusion. Her focus has always been on addressing the power imbalances in how technology is developed and used, advocating for ethical governance and meaningful integration of gender and marginalized perspectives into digital policies. Through her experience, including as a member of the UN Network of Experts on AI and a former advisor to UN Women Arab States on gender innovation, Marwa has tackled critical global challenges such as digital divides, AI governance, social inclusion and climate justice. She ensures that technological progress directly benefits underserved communities, particularly women and youth. Her approach is grounded in the belief that digital development should not only solve systemic problems but also empower those most affected by them, reshaping systems to create a more equitable future.
