Pathways for Advancing Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs in Africas Clean Energy Sector
This project focuses on gender-responsive practices within Entrepreneur Support Organisations (ESOs) to support women clean energy entrepreneurs’ participation, growth, and success, particularly in South Africa’s solar energy sector.
The low-carbon transition offers a promising path to addressing climate change challenges while creating much-needed employment. However, not everyone benefits equally from this shift, and marginalised communities risk being left behind. This disparity is also evident for women entrepreneurs in the clean energy sector, limiting their potential to contribute to green entrepreneurship.
Indalo Inclusive and The Broker have teamed up to uncover actionable pathways and solutions for supporting women in the clean energy sector in South Africa. Combining our joint research expertise and practical experience, this project aims to validate solutions in real-world programs by developing a toolkit for enterprise support organisations in South Africa.
This research project aims to generate valuable insights and address key knowledge gaps to help enterprise support organisations overcome challenges in supporting women entrepreneurs in the solar PV sector, offering practical solutions to improve gender-inclusive programmes.
