Since 2007, The Broker is the Dutch knowledge brokering organization in the field of international sustainable development. We identify and assess diverse ranges of knowledge that enable governments, NGOs and private actors to make informed decisions in the field of international development. We co-create, make knowledge processes inclusive, and bring out the potential in knowledge that often remains unused. Through our activities, we optimize the use of knowledge in the right place, in the best form, at the right moment, and with the right people.
Our team of knowledge brokers are ideologically driven young professionals housed in TSH Collab The Hague and Amsterdam West. The Broker sets up and participates in multiple projects and takes part in the knowledge platforms INCLUDE and Netherlands Food Partnership, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for International Cooperation.
As our HR and Office Manager, you create and implement strategies and policies that enable The Broker to have optimal HR and Office management practices. You are a driving force behind all internal operational processes that support the work of the Management Team and you work as an active connector between the Management Team and the rest of the team. You will support the MT in setting proper goals for coaching, development, and performance expectations of the staff. You help shape working conditions that contribute best to the aims and stability of the organization. You will support our ambition to grow further, and you determine the proper channels for talent acquisition, as well as manage efficiently and professionally all employee-related matters.
Who you are
You are an energetic and proactive person, with excellent communication skills. You are the go-to colleague for all Knowledge Brokers, and you know how to handle office and HR matters fast and effectively. You identify as a ‘people person’ and a real expert in human resource processes and you have administrative swiftness at heart. You are a sharp recorder, whether minutes, reports, or salary mutations. Knowledge of Dutch legal requirements related to HR management of employees, and ensuring regulatory compliance, is of course needed for this position. Furthermore, you have an eye for organising, facilitating, and servicing and a sense of responsibility. You know that a well-run office is an unmissable part of a great team. And, of course, you know how to get the best out of people.
- A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, preferably within a global and dynamic environment; non-profit experience and experience with finance management is a plus;
- A creative and innovative HR vision linking scale-up strategy with competent talent;
- A proactive, service-oriented, stress-resistant practical and enthusiastic host to guests and colleagues;
- An organizational talent with an affinity to an international working environment;
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. French is a plus;
- A team player, passionate about international sustainable inclusive development.
What we offer
The Broker offers you a challenging position in a dynamic and international working environment with the flexibility to develop within a young and enthusiastic team. Our offices are located in TSH Collab Amsterdam West and The Hague, friendly and focused coworking spaces, home to creatives and start-ups.
You will be employed for an initial period of 1 year for the position of HR and Office manager, starting in October 2022 (exact starting date to be decided). Your salary will be €2.564 – €3.581 (based on full-time employment, 40 hrs/week – scale 7 in our salary policy) depending on experience and range of duties. Additionally, you will receive 25 paid holidays (based on full-time employment). This vacancy is at least 0.8 fte (32 hours a week); this will depend on workload and availability – to be determined prior to commencement of the contract.
Upon satisfactory performance, an extension of the contract by a year is possible after the initial 1 year.
