Measuring What Matters wellbeing Economics in Policy and Practice
This initiative brought together global practitioners, researchers, and advocates to explore how wellbeing measurement frameworks can transform economic policymaking. Through the “Measure What Matters” learning community, we examined how to create economies that prioritize human and planetary wellbeing.
Economic policies often focus narrowly on economic growth, failing to address who benefits, sustainability, and what truly drives societal wellbeing. The challenge lies in developing and embedding inclusive, locally relevant wellbeing frameworks into decision-making to ensure they reflect the needs and voices of all communities.
We facilitated three interconnected learning sessions, hosting vibrant exchanges among diverse stakeholders. Together, we unpacked strategies to design inclusive indicators, embed wellbeing frameworks in policy, and align decision-making with citizen priorities. Our knowledge brokering mission guided this collaborative journey, bridging insights with actionable pathways for change.
This project inspired participants to reimagine economic priorities and empowered changemakers to adopt wellbeing-focused frameworks. The shared best practices and lessons not only informed local and national policies but also strengthened capacities to create sustainable, equitable, and meaningful impact.
